This iPad 9th generation charging port and battery replacement in Stockport involved two separate issues. The iPad was not charging at all. Its battery health was also down to 75%, so the customer asked us to replace the battery while we were carrying out the charging-port repair.
The workshop photographs below follow the job from opening the iPad through the charging-port work and battery replacement to the reassembled device showing that it was charging again.
The fault: an iPad that would not charge
A tablet that will not take a charge quickly becomes unusable once its remaining battery runs out. In this case, the repair involved replacing the charging port. The battery was a separate part of the agreed work: the customer wanted its reduced health addressed at the same time.
That distinction matters. A charging problem does not automatically mean both parts need replacing. We assess the device and explain the recommended work before quoting.
Inside the iPad 9th generation repair
With the iPad opened and the display lifted out of the way, we could access the battery and logic board. The photographs show the internal layout and the charging-port assembly removed for work on the bench.

Replacing the charging port
The charging-port work included the fine soldered connection between the port flex and the board. The close-up below shows that connection during the repair. A further photograph shows test probes and a port-testing adapter being used on the bench.
These are photographs of the actual job in our Stockport workshop, rather than stock images of replacement parts.

Replacing the battery at 75% health
The customer also requested a battery replacement because the existing battery was at 75% health. Battery health describes its condition; it is different from the charge percentage shown in the corner of the screen.
We replaced the battery as part of the same workshop visit. The photograph below shows the replacement inside the opened iPad before reassembly.

The result: charging again
After the charging-port and battery replacements, the reassembled iPad showed the charging symbol. Our final photograph captures it at 78% charge with the charger connected.
That 78% is the charge level at the time of the photograph, not a battery-health reading.

Frequently asked questions
Does an iPad charging fault always need a new battery?
No. In this case the charging port was replaced to address the charging fault, and the customer separately requested a new battery because its health was at 75%. Your iPad needs assessment to establish the appropriate repair.
Can you replace an iPad 9th generation charging port and battery together?
Yes, this repair story shows both replacements on the same iPad. We confirm the work, parts, price and expected turnaround before proceeding.
How much does this repair cost?
Check the current iPad model guide prices or contact us with your symptoms. A combined repair needs a confirmed quote; this case study does not advertise a package price.
