Data recovery in Stockport & Manchester

Lost important files, photos or documents? Don’t panic. AC Computer Warehouse offers local data recovery in Stockport for accidentally deleted files, corrupted drives, formatted media and computers that won’t boot. We recover data from hard drives, SSDs, USB sticks, memory cards and external drives — quickly, carefully and confidentially.

Every job starts with a free assessment, so we can see what’s recoverable before you commit to anything. We then give you a clear, fixed quote — and if we can’t recover your data, you don’t pay. Pop into our Stockport workshop (free parking on site) or use our UK-wide mail-in service.

What we can recover

Situations we help with

  • Accidentally deleted files
  • Formatted or reformatted drives
  • Corrupted or RAW file systems
  • “Operating system not found” / non-booting Windows
  • Files lost after a virus or malware infection
  • Drives that are healthy but inaccessible
  • Software-level SSD problems (still detected)
  • Lost photos, documents and work files

Devices & media

  • Laptop & desktop hard drives (HDD)
  • Solid-state drives (SSD)
  • USB flash drives
  • SD & microSD memory cards
  • External & portable drives

A note on physically failed drives. We carry out software-level (logical) recovery from drives and media that are still detected by a computer. If a drive has physically failed — for example it’s clicking, not spinning or not detected at all — that needs specialist cleanroom recovery, which we don’t do in-house. We’ll always assess it first and tell you honestly so you can decide on the best next step.

Frequently asked questions

Can you recover accidentally deleted files?

Often, yes. As long as the data hasn’t been overwritten, we can usually recover accidentally deleted documents, photos and other files. Stop using the device as soon as you notice, as continued use can overwrite the data.

My laptop or PC won’t start — can you get my files off it?

Usually, yes — if the drive itself is healthy and the problem is Windows or the file system. We recover your data and, if needed, can move it onto a new drive or external storage.

Do you recover data from a physically broken or “clicking” hard drive?

We carry out software-level recovery from drives that are still detected. A drive that has physically failed — clicking, not spinning or not detected at all — needs specialist cleanroom recovery, which we don’t do in-house. We’ll assess it and tell you honestly so you can decide on the next step.

How much does data recovery cost?

We start with a free assessment, then give you a clear, fixed quote before any work. And if we can’t recover your data, you don’t pay.

Can you recover from a USB stick or memory card?

Yes — we recover from USB flash drives, SD and microSD cards and external drives, as long as the media is still detected by a computer.

How long does data recovery take?

It depends on the size and condition of the drive and how much data there is. We’ll give you a realistic timescale once we’ve done the free assessment.

Is my data kept private?

Yes. Your data is handled confidentially and only accessed to carry out the recovery you’ve asked for.
